Macerate the Oils
Sillage is developed AFTER maceration, not immediately on mixing the oils with alcohol. Fragrance oils need to be macerated in alcohol for 4-7 weeks. Keep them in dark and away from heat; do not keep in cold. Normal room temperature is preferred. Use Denaturated Alcohol, 99.9% Ethanol, TSDA-1.
The perfume bottles should, preferrably, be turned one turn daily, or at least a few times per week to allow the oil and alcohol to gentle blend [do not shake the bottles].
Oils to Pefumes
Add the fragrance oil to alcohol to observe how the scent develops. For example, a 100ml eau de perfume would contain 20-30%% of fragrance oil to alcohol.
Parfum: 20–30%
Eau de Parfum: 15–25%
Eau de Toilette: 8–12%
Eau de Cologne: 3–5%
Further Preparations
Depending on desired outcome, fixatives can be added to the fragrance oils to enhance specific fragrance notes or sillage, a common practice in perfumery. Process cautiously with fixatives since too much can ruin the structure of the fragrance.
